Donelda Iyizoba- Robinson is a Nigerian
multi-talented designer residing in New Jersey.
The newlywed began her artistic journey during her senior year in high school, where she made the life changing decision to attend college and major in art. She started her collegiate studies at Rutgers University majoring in Fine Arts, but quickly felt uninspired by her surroundings since the University was congested with practically everyone she knew in NJ;"I felt like I was in high school all over again!" Therefore, she decided to transfer herself and her credits to
The Academy of Art in San Francisco, California, majoring in Fashion with a minor in Illustration.
After she graduated she utilized what she learned from Art school to obtain her first creative job as an Assistant Graphic Designer in the luxury fashion world. This role would later motivate her to apply her skills to her very own multifaceted design business entitled, Four91 Design Co. "The name of my business derives from my birthdate. My birthday is April 4, 1991(4/4/91), & since I used to get confused with my month and day of birth, I began to say, 4/91. So it only made sense for me to have that be the name of my very first business." A naturally creative and clever move on her part!
"My environment inspires my art, so I tend to be heavily influenced by what is going on around me. For instance, during the 2016 election, I created a painting called "Life Struggles." To describe it, it is a picture of a woman with her head cut off which expressed how I felt when Trump won. So, my environment is definitely an inspiration for my artwork."
I am sure we can all relate to her sentiments during that election and the upcoming one. However, I would be remiss if I didn't mention how important it is to have some sort of a creative outlet in times of confusion or pain surrounding a certain person, place, or situation. The way that we as a whole society has dealt with this pandemic, is a clear example of this; so many people utilized social media to creatively express their thoughts and feelings. Donelda and her artwork comes with an important message to keep that type of creative expression alive, because you never know who it will resonate with. Her piece has absolutely resonated with me.
Donelda has 2 missions for her brand,
First and foremost, "I create artwork & products to open people's minds to different cultures, ethnicities & to break beauty norms." Secondly, "I assist individuals, small businesses, brands, & municipalities find their creative voices through graphic and web design."

She truly assisted in making my brand and other brands that work with ACD Agency come to life.
Within the next 2-5 years, Donelda hopes to "continue working on building my conglomerate, and I want Four91 to be an umbrella for other smaller brands that I'm working on-- I'm so excited!" Outside of being an artist, she strives to live comfortably with her new husband and soon to be growing family. "I'm not a materialistic person, so I truly appreciate the little moments in life."
Donelda Iyizoba-Robinson has one "why" in life, and that is to make this world a better place. "I know it sounds cheesy, but I feel good when I make others feel good. Whether it's giving advice, or helping an old lady get a cup of coffee, it's nice to help others."
