Last night, I had the honor of being in the presence of some of the most BOLD, confident, self aware, and empowering women at The Finding Ashley Stewart Finale 2017. This amazing event took place at the breathtaking Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, benefitting Dress for Success hosted by the handsome Boris Kodjoe with special appearances by his gorgeous wife, Nicole Ari Parker, Iyanla Vanzant & a special performance by Kierra Sheard and En Vogue!

While I was there assisting BOLDTV, and representing my Colorful Dreamers, I had the chance to speak with some famous faces on the Pink Carpet and ask them, “What does Bold mean to you, and here is what they had to say:

The one and only DJ Olivia Dope says Bold means “to be empowered and walking in your magic every single day.”

Medger Evers Scholarshop Winner Kedeisha Freeman says Bold “is being ok with being up front, being proud and unapologetic about who I am.”

The newly crowned winner of Finding Ashley 2017, Theresa (Larsens) Royals, mentioned that Bold is embracing your voluptuous curves, it is confidence, power, and beauty. Her motto is, “Your size will never limit your dream, it will enlarge it.”

Gospel Artist, Kierra Sheard says Bold means to “have the audacity to dream big, go after it even if you’re afraid to fail, being bold with every move, and even being bold with accepting responsibilities for your failures or mistakes. Bold is a big word. It’s only four letters but it is powerful. It’s all about owning it so its something huge.”

Andrea Rachel Parker who played Destiny on the Starz hit series, ‘Power‘ stated that “Bold means living on the edge and being daring. We care so much about what people think, but when we stop caring, that is when we become Bold & daring.”

Rhona Benett of En Vogue says Bold means “standing in your name and standing in your power, owning who you are, right where you are.”

Cindy Herron of En Vogue says being Bold is “going after what you want in your life and not being afraid to. Its about being a pioneer.”

Nicole Ari Parker says being Bold means “finding balance between being confident & kind along with being confident in the skin in your in.”

This event did an awesome job showcasing #blackgirlmagic, and women embracing all their curves while owning every inch of themselves. The message was clear: empower all women in the audience to be Bold enough to do the same while reminding them to chase their dreams no matter what! We were reminded to have confidence and “kindfidence,” mentioned by Nicole Ari Parker, to help your dreams flourish into something amazing.
